AT PALMER

INTRODUCTION

Math has existed and been an illuminated part of daily life for multiple millennia, perhaps even before the existence of humans themselves. Countless empires such as China, Persia, and India have worked tirelessly throughout history to define math and change it into what it is today. The concept of modern math being a disciplinary subject was born in 6th Century BC, near the Italian peninsula and Greek subcontinents, which at the time was known as the Pythagorean Empire. The earliest existing evidence of the concept of mathematics, however has been found in Mesopotamia, modern day Iraq, and dates back upto 30th century BC. Math shaped many empires, from their architectural structure to their intellectual capabilities and religious beliefs. The greatest progression of Math occurred in the middle ages, with the birth of the silk road and trade routes connecting intellectual powerhouses such as the Netherlands and England with China and India. This development leads humanity to today, when we can input simple equations into computers and extract 3D shapes, or create Large Language Models that can do our tasks for us, all using the same base knowledge that Ancient hunters used to calculate the angle at which to throw their spear.
